Course Objective
The course is designed for students who want an effective and comprehensive approach to learning Bengali that will enable them to make good solid progress in all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to carry on real conversation in complex social situations, such as interactions with different levels of people in the urban society, givine and receiving directions, travelling in the city, etc. Sections are taught entirely in Bengaly from day one, emphasizing careful and individual instruction; therefore, language aacquisition is greatly accelerated.

Bengali (Banglabhasha) is the national language of Bangladesh and an official language of India. In India it is the official language in West Bengal, Tripura, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and the districts of southern Assam: Silchar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi.
The national anthems of India, "Jana Gana Mana", and Bangladesh, "Amar Sonar Bangla", are in Bengali.
