Teaching Assistantships in French

Support for study in the M.A. Program in French at Syracuse University is available in the form of teaching assistantships. The assistantships include complete tuition remittance and an annual stipend of approximately $11,559 (usually available two years).

Prerequisite: B.A. or international equivalent
Length of Assistantship: Two years
Requirements: 30 graduate credits
Teaching Requirements: 1 section (four hours) of French language and one section (1 hour) of French conversation per week

Teaching Requirements: Courses in French, Spanish, Chinese, English as a Second Language, or general linguistics

Teaching Assistantships in Spanish

Support for study in the M.A. Program in Spanish at Syracuse University is available in the form of teaching assistantships. The assistantships include complete tuition remittance and an annual stipend of approximately $11,559.

Prerequisite: B.A. or international equivalent
Requirements: 33 graduate credits in Spanish or related subjects by approval of the department
Teaching requirements: 1 section (4 hours) Spanish language per week, option of teaching additional hour of conversation or performing other teaching-related assignments.

The Spanish curriculum was developed in response to changes in the field of Modern Languages as well as to changes in the needs of students pursuing advanced degrees and careers in higher education.

Teaching is performed under the guidance of a Coordinator, with graduate students collaborating on materials and methods to provide the best learning experience for themselves and their undergraduate students.

Syracuse University also offers the Certificate in University Teaching, which was developed in response to a commitment to the quality of teaching at the university level. The program, which can be pursued concurrently with the Master of Arts degree, prepares students to be better researchers and teachers.
